Say hello to some promising rock acts!

A compilation of unknown bands – can it work?

Yep, it can! I didn’t know a single band on “Undiscovered Rock Compilation” before, but that didn’t stop me from listening again and again. Not only the female fronted acts are good ones, but I want to go into more detail with these tracks. First one is JUNE DIVIDED. To be honest, it’s not my cup of tea. The band plays pop rock and the singer’s voice is not that special that I’d enjoy listening to it much. It doesn’t hurt either, though.

But CITY OF THE WEAK are miles better. Their song ‘White Fire Alarm’ starts with pagan sound but becomes more and more rocky with heavy riffs in the background. I like! The singer plays with her vocals and you can sing along with the chorus very quickly. The band has a unique character and I bet they are a good live act! Hope to see them on stage some day. I also want to mention the band OWL HEAD which is not female fronted, but a really good hard rock act!

Many highlights to discover.

My favorite song on “Undiscovered Rock Compilation” is ‘Operating Table’ by BLAMESHIFT. The chorus is very catchy and Jenny Mann’s vocals would also fit pop music, but the guitars are heavy enough to make the band a rock act. The songwriting is intelligent, not boring even though it’s, as I said, catchy. And Jenny’s voice really touches me. Nice one! Give it a try!

Last song on the compilation is ‘Inside The Flame’ by  VAJRA. The sound reminds me of LONG DISTANCE CALLING. The vocals are not in the foreground, the band creates one piece of music. And the vocals vary a lot. No surprise, the band was called one of the most underrated bands by AXS Magazine. True! If you like atmospheric music, this is the song for you. VAJRA also have that kind of coolness that allows them to play progressive rock without being overly intellectual. I’ll keep that band in mind and also hope to see them on stage some day.
