SEASON OF GHOSTS – “The human paradox”
The human paradox
“The human paradox” is a very honest and emotional album with beautiful ballads and heavy electro-influenced metal songs.
Great comeback of a special singer.
Sophia is back. After one album with Japanese band Blood Stain Child, she releases the debut of her new project named SEASON OF GHOSTS. Supported by her ghost legion featuring Zombie Sam, who also composed some songs, she created a powerful and optimistic album called “The human paradox”. The first three songs after the intro ‘Nothing disappears without a trace’ are really powerful and you cannot help but dance to this mixture of heavy metal and electro.
Serious topic, honest lyrics.
The lyrics are about staying true to yourself and to others, human fears and the way we treat each other – topics worth thinking about. Although these are serious subjects “The human paradox” is full of positive and motivating energy, telling you to never give up and follow your own way.
The title track is a soft ballad to calm down and ponder, followed by the very poppy song ‘[Ne]: Mesis – the kiss of justice’. SEASON OF GHOSTS show that they can also write good songs without the massive power of heavy metal elements.
But another highlight is ‘Beautiful Eternal Things’, which is about a broken relationship that – however – left behind some positivity that should be kept at heart. With its heavy riffs and electro blasts, it becomes a heavy mid-tempo ballad. The total power of heavy metal comes back in ‘Quantum – through the looking glass’ – a track that is a good summary of the whole album musically.
Lovely details.
The cover and booklet are also full of details – you can find a picture of Sophia’s cat that passed away. And if you listen to the album long enough you can also hear her cat Linda purring.
Fans of The Birthday Massacre will love SEASON OF GHOSTS! I wish for a tour with both of them… Also people who know Sophia from Blood Stain Child will recognise their influence on her music. Also watch the interview we had with Sophia right after her gig at Metal Female Voices Fest 2014!
