POWERWOLF live in Düsseldorf (25-01-2019)
Germany’s Metal giants are back! Actually, it feels like they were never on a break, but now that POWERWOLF released their brand new album “The Sacrament Of Sin”, the band was ready for the “Wolfsnächte Tour”. Also, POWERWOLF is celebrating their 15th anniversary and where else can you celebrate an anniversary and a new album better than on tour?
In order to celebrate something, you need to invite some friends. In this case, POWERWOLF invited the Swedish/Danish Electro-Metal band AMARANTHE and German glam-rockers KISSIN’ DYNAMITE to be a part of this tour. One thing is for sure – this is a line-up you really shouldn’t miss!
POWERWOLF, AMARANTHE, and KISSIN’ DYNAMITE – the perfect line-up for a perfect start into the weekend.
With AMARANTHE and KISSIN’ DYNAMITE, they had two amazing bands, which are both great live-performers and you really should give them a listen! Glam Rock is always fun and the boys from KISSIN’ DYNAMITE are really underrated. They started the evening in Düsseldorf with a powerful set of songs and performance.
It might have been early for a concert but the venue was well-filled at this time and you also could see many KISSIN’ DYNAMITE fans. This band definitely knew how to rock. In my opinion, the running order wasn’t right. Maybe KISSIN’ DYNAMITE are smaller than AMARANTHE but they definitely rocked more and brought more power to the stage. AMARANTHE also did a great job but there wasn’t that intense connection between the audience and the band like with KISSIN’ DYNAMITE. Glam Rock is pure entertainment and this is what they did, while opening for POWERWOLF.
AMARANTHE, it seemed, just did their job and that was it. Also, everything was about Elize – she dominated the show, although there were two other great singers on stage. Don’t get me wrong, she is a damn talented and beautiful woman but the men really don’t need to hide behind her.
The show itself was nice but KISSIN’ DYNAMITE just had much more power and a much better connection to the crowd. I’m not a big fan of both bands and actually, I’m more into female-fronted music but KISSIN’ DYNAMITE just had the better show and performance. If you enjoyed their show and you went home positively surprised KISSIN’ DYNAMITE will go on their own “Ecstasy” headline tour very soon.
POWERWOLf’s metal mass can finally fill arenas.
Finally, the waiting for POWERWOLF and their unique metal mass was over and a big curtain covered the view to the stage. When the first song started, the curtain was supposed to fall down. But nothing happened in the first seconds and when it finally came down there were still stripes hanging down, which made it too dangerous to start the pyrotechnics for this show. It was sad but that’s what a live show is about: everything can happen, no matter how many times you practiced before. It was even sadder since the first song is ‘Fire & Forgive’ and is made for a big fire show. Singer Attila brushed it off with a funny comment and the band went on with the performance.
POWERWOLF has gotten very big during the last couple of years and they really deserved to play in an arena like that in Düsseldorf. Such a powerful and phenomenal show belongs in an arena and it was just a matter of time until they reached this level!
Sure, their concept is always the same: a big heavy metal mass with a lot of irony and fun. But unlike “real” churches, POWERWOLF gets more and more followers. It’s always fun to be a part of their shows, like on that evening in Düsseldorf.
POWERWOLF-frontman Attila talks to many audiences but at the show, you feel it’s just for you.
Certainly, the phrases Attila says during a show and the entertainment between the songs are almost the same every evening but as a concertgoer, you feel like it’s just for you. It really feels personal and not just like something reapeated every show exactly the same. It’s hard to keep the connection to the fans when a band gets bigger and bigger and so do the venues. I’ve seen POWERWOLF in 4 different venues of different sizes, but it still feels personal.
The bigger the venue, the more powerful the stage design. Here in Düsseldorf, POWERWOLF made sure that a big cross was visible even in the last row, dazzling the crowd. Every element of the show was a little bit too much, but that is what POWERWOLF is about. You may love it or hate it, but there is not much space in between. From the visual aspect, POWERWOLF also showed that fire can make an amazing show even more amazing. Their pyro-show was pretty impressive.
It was a truly amazing show with 18 songs, a lot of fire and fun on stage and in the crowd. The fans sang along every single song and wore POWERWOLF face painting. You never go home disappointed after a POWERWOLF-show because their shows are just great.
The combination of the 3 bands was nice. With the different genres, it won’t get boring. In my opinion, they should start with AMARANTHE as an opener, followed by KISSIN’ DYNAMITE as a direct opener for POWERWOLF because they have just more power. After their performance, at the beginning of the
