DORO – Cologne (30-11-2018)
The Queen of Metal is back, not only with a new album but with a double one! “Forever Warriors, Forever United” was released on August 17th and DORO‘s extended tour will run until March 24th. Actually, it feels like DORO is always on tour because you can see her at almost every festival, everywhere! She is not only the Queen Of Metal she is also one of the hardest working people in the music business!
OVERSENSE mix different rock and metal styles.
The gig started earlier than announced and, unfortunately, most concertgoers weren’t at the venue on time. I have no problem with an early start but when it’s not written anywhere it’s just not fair. Not fair for the audience, nor for the support band. In this case, OVERSENSE had to start their show in an almost empty venue. I’m sure many people arrive only to see the headliner and the venue usually gets fuller after the opener but what happened at Live Music Hall was just not a real situation. You could see that people didn’t arrive late, they were convinced it would start at 7 pm.
Nevertheless, OVERSENSE did an amazing job! It must be very hard to start such a gig and see just a few people. But they ignored it professionally and played their show just as if the venue was sold out! A very likable young band with a charismatic frontman and a captivating young woman on the guitar. OVERSENSE mix different rock and metal styles, which probably is nice for everyone who likes rock and metal. On top of that, the vocals are great.
Although it started too early and the venue filled slowly, the singalong and interaction with the audience were great and you could see both sides, band and audience, had so much fun that the playtime of OVERSENSE was too short. Great opener, but a shitty organization of the schedule!
After 35 years on stage, you can be sure that DORO knows how to rock.
Everything plays out earlier this evening because Live Music Hall is also a discotheque on the weekends. DORO started her powerful set before 8 pm. By then, the venue was finally well filled. DORO has been in the music business for a long time. But if you think you will find only older people at her concerts, you would be wrong. DORO’s music doesn’t have an age limit – and also it doesn’t know borders! DORO is successful all over the world, which you could see in Cologne too! In the front row, there are people from Japan and DORO knows many of the front-row fans by name. After 35 years on stage, you can be sure that DORO knows how to rock. She started the show extremely strong and even the ballads created a powerful atmosphere.
“Forever Warriors, Forever United” is DORO‘s 14th and 15th studio albums and with this repertoire, the show was a great mix of new songs, hits, and covers. Every song was introduced to the audience with its own story. DORO still knows when they were released and what is special about each and every song. After she realized that her fans from Japan attended the show she tried to speak a mix of German and English to make it more comfortable for everybody from other countries. That’s a really nice reaction and shows that she really loves her fans!
There will never be last DORO-tour.
Later this evening, the Queen Of Metal said, that there will never be a “Good-Bye”-tour for her because she loves making music and playing gigs and she is prepared for the next 35 years. Musicians may say a lot, but the atmosphere, DORO’s smiling face during the whole concert and all the side notes to the band and about the songs during the show, you really could feel that music is her life and she won’t stop doing what she loves so much.
It’s really hard to describe the show because it was just so full of love and joy from both sides of the photo pit. It was great to see that DORO and her band have been playing together for so many years and everything was so full of love. Maybe the show with the most love I’ve attended this year! Besides all the love, unfortunately, you could see that DORO had time pressure because of the disco afterward. But that was the only negative thing on this show! Amazing sound, so clear, no matter where you stood. Beautiful lightshow and a well-mixed setlist. Sure, everybody has different favorite songs, but she played 20 songs of her whole career and the fans loved this setlist.
Besides the shitty organization, this concert was amazing! OVERSENSE played a great show but they really deserve to play in front of more people. A great opener that fits perfectly into this evening. And DORO is DORO – The Queen of Metal and after attending her show you really know she deserves the nickname!
