It’s getting colder outside, the night starts earlier, leaves blaze in amazing colours. Yeah, it’s autumn! If the sun is shining, it’s a perfect day for a long walk in the woods! So I did yesterday and I couldn’t pass the way without collecting beautiful things around me. A fir cone here, a piece of bark there…
Back at home, I sat down in the kitchen. And what did I find? Empty preserve jars. Hmm… together with the nature presents….. Ah, great! I’ll tinker candle holders!
It’s autumn, no better time than this for a cup of tea, a good novel and candle light?! So, just make it! I want to share with you the process. If you enjoy the forest and want a part of it at home, just DIY.
Some stuff you can find out in the woods. (Birch) bark, colourful leaves, berries, moss, acorns and beechnuts… Nature is rich, there is a little part for everyone. Collect what you like and seems to be decorative
(But please respect everything which is threatened by extinction).
What do you need in addition?
An old glass, glue,
wire and a pincer…
…and everything else you can find in your home and fits to the topic. Feathers, bast, wood pearls, ribbon …
Last but not least: Candles!
Wrap the bark, moss or leaves around the glass. For the leaves I used the glue, for the bark a piece of wire. In that case, used the pincer. It’s much easier to mount a stiff piece of bark around the jar with wire. After fixing it, tie around the ribbon. With a little bow, it looks even cuter 🙂
The berries, acorns, beechnuts (and everything else like feathers and pears) I also mounted with the wire. First, fix everything separated on one long piece of wire, than wrap it around the glass and over the other stuff.
So that’s it! Little work, lots of atmosphere 🙂 Enjoy your candlelight-tea and relish the cold autumn winds outside your living room.
Oh, by the way: The recipe for a tasty autumn cake can you find here.
