T-shirt modification #2 – make it girlie!
Do it yourself – re-design a shirt!
Sometimes, your favourite band just doesn’t offer a girlie shirt… and male shirts do not look that good very often! So here is another tutorial how to modify a male shirt!
The shirt.
Before I started doing anything to modify the shirt, I sharpened my scissors… I wanted straight cuts! You can also make cuts that do not look straight so that you see you did something to the t-shirt. I decided to create a girlie shirt out of a SEASON OF GHOSTS shirt and the band also offers beautiful buttons. You’ll see later, what I needed them for. I bought a top in the same colour of the print. Take a pencil and then you can start!
The work.
I measured out how much I wanted to take away from the stuff around the neck and marked the distance with my pencil. Then I started to cut very slowly to get a straight line. After that I was able to take it off on one shoulder – the result already looked more like a girly shirt! I cut about 5 cm.
But I wanted more! And I didn’t buy the other piece just to show the straps. So I looked into the mirror and marked where I wanted little holes to show the shirt under the band shirt. Make sure the second shirt can be seen through the stripes. Don’t cut out something on the outside margin of the shirt… I tried it with another one and it didn’t look good.
I decided to cut three stripes on four different places of the shirt and used my hair clip to make sure they have the same length. It also helps to get straight cuts.
The result.
After I had these cuts, I took one of the buttons and placed it where the two shirts ‘meet’ – it keeps them together the way I want it and looks somehow cool! Yeah, that’s it… I’, looking forward to running around at M’Era Luna in my SEASON OF GHOSTS girlie shirt.
