M’Era Luna fashion check 2015
Summer style 2015
M’Era Luna is at least 50 percent a festival about fashion and lifestyle. There were so many shops! We also visited the fashionshow. This is what we found out.
The fashion show.
M’Era Luna weekend was hot! 25 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 28 degrees Celsius on Sunday. In the sun, it felt even hotter. So I felt for all the people who had complecated clothes on and were unable to undress somehow. But on the other hand, well, it’s their choice. I wore my modified SEASON OF GHOSTS shirt as planned on Saturday with some jeans hotpants and biker boots and for Sunday, I had a cute skirt, a white blouse and cat ears ^_^ I know, world cat day was on Saturday… But I was happy to not wear something black.
With gothic fashionshows it is very similar to usual fashionshows: you probably might not wear these clothes in public! Maybe some of them… And maybe some more at a festival like M’Era Luna but in sum, there was not much for common people. The Gothic Fashion Show was organised by FADERHEAD who also composed the music for all of the designers. Before the models came on stage, Mister and Miss Alternative Netherlands presented the outfits they won these titles with. They gave a statement and told the audience that you should wear what you want and what you feel like to express yourself. And no matter how that looks like, we are all beautiful
Good motto to start the show with! First label was a kind of body art design (also name of the label) showing a lot of skin. The clothes were very dark and the models wore a lot of leather. All in all it was okay and a good opener, but for me, it was not surprising enough. Amatoris Latex-Couture was really beautiful! The designer created dresses and pattern with latex and the models looked really pretty in it. Also at the festial itself, some people ran around with latex dresses.
Next designer was Lily Cut. They did a kind of theatre show which was strange… And depressive. The clothes looked like something you might wear at a funeral (black stuff) or in bed (white stuff) and the models played with tarot cards without giving it a sense I was able to get. BUT these were the only clothes one might wear in public without having all the people look at oneself. Kinky Rings was a lot cooler: the designer created all the clothes out of steel rings – dresses, blouses, shirts – it was great! And the motto was ‘cold steel on hot bodies’. Fact. I liked it a lot.
But highlight was Bertoldini Giuliana! Dresses and headdresses were influenced by carnival in Venedig: a lot of feathers, many colours, gold, silver, and those headpieces!!! The designer also sold his stuff at the shopping mall but as you might guess they are really expensive… but they looked like really high quality and as I said: beautiful!
The malls.
That was the fashion show… now let’s talk about the malls. And I want to throw in that there were not so many people running around in costumes, unfortunately. But I saw many people with cat ears. Steam punk is still hot! Many, many shops offered corsets, dresses, skirts and blouses in those colours. Even though, there were not too many people wearing them at the festival, I think this style will be trendy for the next two or three years.
New stuff.
But there is a new trend I figured out: symbols from old Egypt! I think of these big eyes, catlike, much gold and symbols like sun, stars, moon, also birds. Especially one brand had a lot of stuff in this style: Killstar. And especially jewellery is big and has those symbols … the Egypt cross and sky stuff. Plus astronomy things: star signs, constellations, signs of the zodiac. It looked really cool and seemed to be of high quality! So I just had to buy a dress. All the stuff you see on the picture is from M’Era Luna: the dress, the back in style of a clock and the hat with spikes!
Of course, all the tight black stuff is popular and corsets of all kinds. But dark fashion seems to open itself to more colours and normal fashion. Many shops offered shirts with prints on it looking like they could also be offered at a shop in the city. Beautiful big bags are another new trend. Medieval clothes seem to be off trend – I did not see many people wearing that stuff and the shops offered steam punk clothes mostly.
I also fell in love with a label called Twisted Apparel. They took our Disney heroes, gave them a rockstar look and printed them on shirts. So cool! All in all, I saw many, many beautiful clothes and felt like people do not have the desire to express their difference to others with their style – designs were a lot like what you find in local shops. Many shops offered small headpieces. Punk and biker style still needs some time to come back again. Let’s see what comes next year! I bet, old Egypt stuff is the new shit.
