Jack O’Lantern KISS-style
I love Halloween! All the spooky but cheesy decoration, ghosts running around and the only time in the year when little gothic Pia didn’t feel like an alien on earth! It’s also great fun to work on pumpkins and make a mess in the kitchen or in the garden! The whole process is wonderful when you take the pumpkin seeds and roast them while working on the shell itself.
But every year the same face on each and every door? Boring! My solution was to find a face many people would recognize but it should still be simple to make and fitting for Halloween. My choice was Gene Simmons from KISS!
I was made for scaring you, baby!
First of all, I had to look up many, many pictures to make sure I can recreate his make-up on my pumpkin. I’m really bad at drawing, so that was a hell of a challenge for me! To be honest, I started with a pencil and used a ruler for some parts. Then I took a permanent marker to make sure, I won’t destroy my other markers with the juice of the pumpkin.
Of course, you have to cut off the stem first and then remove the seeds, after that hollow out the pumpkin.
Step by step… be patient.
Then I took my sharpest knife and cut out the eyes and the triangle on the forehead little by little, piece by piece. I also made sure that the permanent marker is cut away, otherwise the Jack O’Lantern might look kind of strange… It also gets a three-dimensional effect when you softly cut out the edges.
Tada!
After that, you’re done! Take a candle and put it into the pumpkin, then close it again. Put it where people can see it and enjoy having the most epic Jack O’Lantern in town! Of course, you can continue now with the other three KISS members. Maybe that’s my project for this year… let the pumpkin season begin!
