Paleo – the caveman diet
Paleo
Back in Stone Age people did not grow crops or punsh their food with food supplements. From this way of eating, paleo concept was created. Let us introduce you to your ancestors nutrition.
Back to basics.
Cavemen were not able to practise agriculture in the way we do. Today we eat a lot of cereals (e.g. pasta) and food that was modified either by genetics or by value-added chain. In former times, people ate pure food without modification.
Supporters of paleo say that people lived like that for millions of years and the kind of food we eat nowadays was only served for 10.000 years. But the genetics do not change so fast and so our bodies are still familiar with pure food instead of processed groceries.
Really a diet?
Speaking about paleo as a diet is not 100 percent true. It can be a diet for someone who wants to lose some weight or to build up one’s muscles. But paleo is more like a dietary change. It is easier for the body to stomach pure food so it is more energized. One might sleep better, skin might get purer and healthier and muscles can be built up quicker.
So let’s have a look at the food of paleo. Pure food that was available as long as people can think (or even longer) are – of course – vegetables. But also meat and fish are pure. Fruits, nuts, seeds and eggs are also allowed. Highly reduced are sugar, dairy products, cereal products, legumes and artificial flavours.
You see – all the foodstuff is still available now and it is not too difficult to prepare food this way. Of course, it is hard to change eating habits and no-one says you should live another life from now on. But it is an idea to try some paleo recipes now and then and doing something good for the body. Paleo works also with ketosis, if someone wants to give it a try. But it is recommended to do a strict diet of 30 days to get a feeling for the advantages of paleo.
