The shadows over LARP
The shadows over LARP
Where’s light, there are also always shadows.
The shadows over LARP have many colors. One of them is hard to fight against, especially for women. Yes, some costumes are ‘sexy’ and a young, female warrior seems to be very attractive for some male LARP-ers. But there is no reason to break the limits of respect and civility. It doesn’t matter, that the characters are fictional and have other skills than the players in normal life may have. In the end, every LARP-er is a normal human being and getting personal can hurt.
The same goes for violent topics. On one hand, LARP is a very good to interact with others, also in a ‘violent’ way, without hurting anyone. But sometimes some players seem to leave the safe area of the game and their aggression surfaces. That’s the point when it gets dangerous for everyone involved.
The lines between game and reality can be blurred. That’s nothing unusual at LARP. So never leave the space of respect to each other!
