James Dashner: “The Scorch Trials” – Book Review
Book two of The Maze Runner Series – even more thrilling and a bit confusing.
The second book of The Maze Runner Series is a bit confusing and puts cruelty on a higher level, especially in the beginning. The gladers made it to a safe place which turns out to be their next challenge. Thomas loses both Theresa and the abiity to talk to her via telepathy. Then the boys find out that their saviours are dead and after that they suffer from hunger.
Well, I do not want to spoiler too much but this is only the beginning of the book. The gladers are forced to face up to a lot of challenges and many of them do not get far. Also the relationship between Thomas and Theresa changes a lot in an unexpected way. Sometimes The Scorch Trials gets a bit boring and wordy and some turns in the story are really confusing. But in the end it all turns out thrilling and you really, really need to read the next book!
Strange characters Brenda and Jorge.
A big plus are two new characters, Brenda and Jorge. James Dashner created really interesting characters with these two. Unfortunately, he doesn’t take the chance to expand some other new characters and so they remain very inexpressive.
Nevertheless, the book is thrilling. And you need to read it for the full story of The Maze Runner Series. The story is getting more and more serious here and the unexpected turns make the story unpredictable.
