Cereal Bar Recipe – Simple, Tasty, Endless Variable
You like outdoor activities and search an easy and nutritious snack for trips? You like baking and trying new tastes without an annoying search for recipes? Or you just look for a tasty and healthy candy?
Maybe the following recipe is something right for you. It is a cereal bar or cookie (how you cut it) which is quite simple and there are all variations possible you can imagine.
Ingredients:
150 g Butter or plant based margarine
2 tablespoon of sugar beet syrup or honey
220 g Cereals or oat flakes (or just mix it/choose your favorite breakfast cereal)
1 ground apple
Whole nuts or almonds
Spices like cinnamon or vanilla
What to do:
Melt syrup and butter in a pot. Mix all dry ingredients and then stir in the melted mass. Spread it on a backing paper (1 cm thick) and put it into the warmed oven (150°C, recirculation air). Bake it for half an hour. Spend attention, that it doesn’t get to dark. Maybe put a other piece of baking paper above it.
Let the cereal bar mass cool down. When they are cold, they become hard and crunchy. Cut them into bars or small pieces and it’s done! Enjoy!
You can try everything you can image in your bars. Coconuts and cranberries, chocolate and raisins, dates and figs, a banana instead of apple… Everything is possible, let you imagination run wild! 😀
The rule of thump is
that you have the proportion of 1 part melted fat and sugar and 1 part of dry ingredients like oat, nuts, fruits and so on.
The next time I want to try it as a salty variation. Dried tomatoes, herbs, olives,… I’m already curious about it!
