What the fu** is LARP?
In two words: Be crazy.
That’s a question I often hear, while sitting together with friends and talking about everyday life. Maybe it’s an extraordinary hobby for a young woman, but one thing I can tell you: it’s fun! For everyone who still needs more detail: wear medieval clothes, fight with toy-weapons and play in the mud. In two words: Be crazy. I think that sums it up.
But LARP (= Live Action Role Play) is much more than wearing medieval-gowns and talking in an old, crazy way. It’s about being someone different, letting the normal life with its problems behind you. You may play a character, which is completely different to you. And interact with the other players (or better: characters) and build a new personality. You can learn a lot about yourself and try new character traits, which are impossible to live in your ‘normal’ life. Yes, it’s crazy, but where and when in hell, can you be an Ork or an Elf? Not in the office for sure. That’s the main challenge. Not wearing old-styled gowns, but to slip a different personality over your own.
The inside story will continue next week… Stay tuned!
